I'm sure Roger Waters and David Gilmour, and Syd Barrett for that matter wrote songs with "their own thoughts" too. Personally, I think it's naive to think that experimental musicians DON'T do drugs, or at least have decent experience around them. We'll never know what drugs they do unless they get caught or admit it, and it's not really anyone's business anyway. If the music is good, who cares?

it's like, all the harmonious musical stuff..it's all been done before. what now? you know what i mean?
Rrambler (August 28, 2008 at 10:47 pm)
yeah, but it's arguably harder to experiment now than it was back in the day, cause it gets more and more difficult to come up with something new and original without becoming unmusical.

For all you comparing Radiohead to Pink Floyd, you probably shouldn't get too far into that idea...Radiohead probably wouldn't exist without Pink Floyd, first of all. Pink Floyd were pioneers in the electronic music world, but c'mon.....few albums will ever top Dark Side of the Moon. Radiohead is amazing, and they are experimenting in similar ways as the Floyd, but we're talking about 40 years difference.

aye, Colin (i think it was him) said they tried using weed at the beginning of OK Computer sessions but had to give it up cause they couldn't concentrate. they don't do drugs in the studio.

I agree, radiohead in my opinion is a better group than Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd is great, but lots of stuff they did and they were just on LSD or something to that sort. Radiohead writes everything with there own thoughts, not while under the influence of anything(Well if it is anything than it is weed, but they said they really didn't use it as much as people think they do).
