http://www.mediaed.org Featuring Naomi Klein. In the age of the brand, logos are everywhere. But why do some of the world's best-known brands find themselves on the wrong end of the spray paint can the targets of anti-corporate campaigns by activists and protestors? No Logo, based on the best-selling book by Canadian journalist and activist Naomi Klein, reveals the reasons behind the backlash against the increasing economic and cultural reach of multinational companies. Analyzing how brands like Nike,The Gap, and Tommy Hilfiger became revered symbols worldwide, Klein argues that globalization is a process whereby corporations discovered that profits lay not in making products (outsourced to low-wage workers in developing countries), but in creating branded identities people adopt in their lifestyles. Using hundreds of media examples, No Logo shows how the commercial takeover of public space, destruction of consumer choice, and replacement of real jobs with temporary work the dynamics of corporate globalization impact everyone, everywhere. It also draws attention to the democratic resistance arising globally to challenge the hegemony of brands.

If anyone is interested in studying concepts like these.. University courses are available to further your knowledge. For example, The Philosophy behind marketing and the Physcology behind art are common courses available at Canadian Universities.

"all computer can be recycled"???!!? Please don't speak nonsense. Most computers can not be recycled. The flat screen is very toxic. The wastes have to be kept somewhere. However some computer screens can be recycled (but very few since customers would rather buy a cheaper computer). End of talk, grow up.

Im gonna enjoy my human shaped big mac from micdonalds while whatching tv on my big screen in my house that capitolism built. if its survival of the fittest you hippies are comin in dead last.
NeckRAS (August 9, 2008 at 7:44 am)
oh i c. by fighting the corperations you decided to spend more money (which means higher taxes) on virtually the same product as the rest of the dell/HP/Gateway customers? All computers can be recyled, all computers come from forein land and all websites create marketing revenue for big business. if you really wanted to make a point, be a hermit in the forest living off nature like us animals were intended to.
Caramonn (August 8, 2008 at 6:27 pm)
yes that is why my computer is not the cheapest computer. That is why I selected a computer which can be recycler for a large part! and yes I can not avoid having a computer in our society and according to our way of living. But I can choose my computer. I can choose my food. I can choose my job. I can choose my government. I can choose to speak up here in my community. I can even take actions. In that way I stay human because I need to do something even if it seems stupid/ useless.

People who advocate change will always be hypocrites, it literally means nothing to attack them for speaking out about their disillusionment with products which are shipped around the globe. Globalization means the elimination of community and locality. I think NeckRAS might be one of those people who eats food in the shape of humans, to prepare himself for eating real human beings.
