It's recorded on a Rick, but the one in the video is not. Rickenbackers have more distinctive bodies than that one. The top body curve is too smooth and the headstock isn't oddly shaped.

He rewired his bass for the sound. It's made depending on how stands by the amp and where he picks.
But he's not rubbing the pick on the string.
