Their are almost a trillion stars in our galaxy alone. The sun is just one of those stars and the Nearest star to it is 4 1/2 lightyears away. Their are almost 600 billion galaxies in the known universe and the nearest galaxy to us (the Milky Way) is almost 3 million lightyears away.
