This is my home server/data center setup. This is in the enclosed patio backroom next to my bedroom. It gets really hot really fast so I have air conditioner and a high powered RPM fan blowing 24/7. The first server: Compaq Proliant 7000 Quad CPU P3 @ 500MHz 3.8GB RAM 120GB RAID 5 Hard Drives Dual 10/100 Nic 3 Redundant Power Supplies Windows Server 2003 Symantec Backup Exec 11.d and SQL Database Server Dell Power Vault 120T w/Robotic Library Second server: Compaq 1850R Dual P3 500MHz 1GB Ram 3 36GB 10Krpms Hard Drives 18GB 15K Hard Drive Windows 2003 Server Domain Controller, Global Catalog RIS Server DNS, DHCP Windows Update Server SQL Desktop Engine DFS Dual Power Supplies Third computer: HP Netserver LPr P3 450MHz 512MB Ram 3 36GB 10Krpms Hard Drives Two 18GB 15K Hard Drives Windows 2003 Server Second Domain Controller DFS Fourth server: Compaq Proliant 7000 Dual CPU P3 @ 400MHz 1.2GB RAM 36GB RAID 5 Hard Drive Dual 10/100 Nic 3 Redundant Power Supplies Vmware ESX 2.5.2 Server Hosting 16 Virtual Servers Test Network w/ VLANS Fifth server: Compaq Deskpro EN One CPU P3 @ 866MHz 512MB RAM 15GB Hard Drive Gig Enternet Symantec Client Security w/Firewall and Reporting RCN Cable/Phone/Internet w/Static IP: 20,000 down/2000 up. On Average 18,000 down /1960 up- Very reliable, never had any major problems or outages that were RCN's fault. Very pleased with the service. (more) (less)

Exactly- sell most of that legacy equipment on craigslist and use the money for a new server w/ the free ESXi hypervisor. It'll save energy and make future upgrades a breeze!

That would be hilarious if your landlord pays for electric hahaha Thats actually a pretty good setup. I bet you learned a lot when setting everything up too.
