it's not about if he's playing good or bad.(i think he does play good considering his age at that time). But if you have carefully listened, the music from his heart and the message he wanted to convey should have reached into your heart.

I saw this on tv when it originally aired. He was so weak that someone else tuned his cello and handed it to him. The problem was that they couldn't get it in tune. The main point of this video is that he played this song for peace and in memory of Catalonia from which he exiled himself when Franco took power. He was a great statesman, musician and person. Sometimes it's okay to hear what a person means rather than be critical of the sound.

eso es algo q yo tampoco entiendo de algunas gentes,q critican para deztrozar y hacer pedazos a una persona aun ARTISTA como CASALS no hay nada q se le pueda criticar,q tiene fallas producto de su edad?yo no las oigo.fue y sigue siendo un maestro de la musica,no hay sentimiento si no hay nobleza hay q aprender a querer y respetar,si respetamos seremos mejores.estoy acuerdo contigo.

Do you know why people mark both of your comments as bad? Because, you don't understand that it is so sad and deep.. He is one of the lords of cello technique and understanding of music..He left a lot of good things for cellists..Plus, he is so old at this video time..He hadn't even played in public for a long time since he had hard time to just stand up or speak..He was always precious and always will be...I hope when you become your 90s age, you will be able to speak(!)
