Just in case what i said below doest show up publicly: Hey Adam6275. The first quote he made in part two is from the Talmud, extremely well known. The second thing he says is from the Prophet Jeremiah. Jeremiah 20:9. It's in the first five minutes, not the last. And Jeremiah is not part of the Torah. You need to get your facts straight before you get involved in Jewish matters, your credibility is shot, and your ignorance is all over yourself like a stain advertising to everyone.

The rabbinical period was after Ezra. It is my understanding that it is matrilineal descent because Jewish women were raped in the Diaspora and a dilemma ensued as to if the child was Jewish or not. It was expected that a Jewish man would marry a Jewish woman.
