i remember seeing lonnie play when i was 10 yrs.old in fiendship, indiana. never have got over it!he was a friend of my dads and a real trailblazer. awesome post. thank you bud

The 1st record SRV bought was Lonnie Mack.He played it so many times that his father got mad broke it. Lonnie had tremendous influence on Stevie when he was a kid. SRV tried to boost up Lonnie's carrier when he was struggling.

Your right Robotey1, SRV found Lonnie in a trailer park drinking burbon and eating oreo cookies. Lonnie was SRV's idol, so he ponyed up for Lonnie's 1983 album "Strike like Lighting" The rest is history. SRV is the absolute GOD of guitar, but Lonnie is in a strong fight for 2nd.

Lots of people don't know it but SRV saved Lonnie's bacon! He was at a real low Stevie bailed him out - what a great thing to do. How many "stars" would go to the trouble without doing it for a publicity stunt?

This is from the pilot episode of a mooted "American Caravan" TV series that Lonnie would have hosted with various guests each episode; alas the networks did not pick it up and so this is the only one produced. But it is certainly a killer with SRV guesting! I've had it on video since shortly after it was taped, thanks to "a friend in the industry with connections"; apparently copies must have made their way around sufficient for someone to have posted this to You Tube, which is fine by me.
