Well we've got two choices here, we can keep them uneducated but semi-well fed, living in squalor and dependant on people whom many of which couldn't really care less about the longterm well being of the people they claim to want to help. OR as we feed them we can at least make some effort to inspire them to use their brains and find their own ways of providing for themselves, leading to the day when they won't need any help. This project is just one step towards that, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

I think that the technology is great, and that its features are great and I love its simplicity and that their so cheap. but i really hate how they look. I don't know who decided that green and white were meant to go together. Black would have looked cooler and the antennas that are for the wifi access are horrible.

do they have any idea how many individual dialects there are in that area of the world? obviously not... i feel bad for the kids, really

This is stupid. They wastes millions to give laptops to children in third world countries, when they don't NEED a laptop, they NEED food, shelter, and REAL help.

From Bangladesh: The total cost of this apparently benevolent project have probably exceeded millions of dollars. Wouldn't it be better served building simple book libraries in developing nations? You know, a book (Those series of pages with black squigly lines) is a proven technology for thousands of years. With 100 dollars we can buy 100 books for a kid.The laptops are sold to governments.(from "OLPC" in wikipedia) Why should my govt spend millions for your American idea of tech education?

Lend and African kid your laptop, he can play tetris for an hour. Give an African kid a laptop, he can get RSI and never be able to fish again or catch food.
