You must watch the Andy Griffith show too much, Barney Fife. haha you crack me up. good snapping, couldn't have explained it better myself, although, I tend to keep the thumb and middle finger a little loose (but not enough to allow them to move) so as not to tighten the index finger and its momentum. it's all about the momentum. keep it up.
