No, your right. At the time, back in the late 80's, The Pixies were an obscure, alternative band. They were not mainstream. They had moderate success by their own accord. It wasn't until recently that they have come to much acclaim by most. But most musicians back then saw their true greatness. All great bands were influenced by them, Nirvana, Radiohead, U2, David Bowie, just watch the documentary, it's awesome!
