ANTI-VIOLENCE IN ARMENIA PROTEST

this protest was to let the world know whats going on in Armenia! the injustice in the electons for the president of 2008 caused a rebbelion in armenia. this protest in little armenia, hollywood was to inform the people of the useless state of emergency called by current president robert kocharian. The 2008 Elections for the Armenian Presidency have caused a great dispute between the people of Armenia and the political leaders. The situation has erupted into a civil war and will continue to escalate. Serzh Sargsyan, the winner of the 2008 elections and close friend of Kocharian, is being accused of election fraud. There have been many reported cases of voter intimidation and beatings believed to be Sargsyan's followers in order to ensure his victory in the elections. Many of the protestors are supporters of Armenia's first President and 2008 President candidate Levon Ter-Petrosian. The current President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, has declared a state of emergency. Kocharian's office said the state of emergency would remain in effect for 20 days. The measure imposes severe restrictions, including banning all mass gatherings and ordering that news media reports on domestic political matters include only official information. The order also says police have the right to restrict movement and to search private and public vehicles. There have been an excessive amount of police reports filed regarding the brutal and immoral torture inflicted upon the Armenian people by the Kocharian appointed soldiers and police officers. However, many reporters and camera men have forcefully been stripped of their films and recordings by police officers in order to avoid bad media.
