To be completely honest, I had never heard of that anime until you mentioned it. But, the psycho-horror seems to be common in both, along with homicidal maniacs and blood, but the stories seem to differ quite a bit.
I think someone else with more knowledge on both anime(s?) will be able to help you. My appologies for not being to help much.
