or jumping on stage like lunatics try to make everybody notice them... callas could stand still and no-one could take their eyes off her...

She was built for the stage and the drama.

Callas is not an advertising product : she was and remains unique.
Specially in Medea : when we see her (movies or pictures), when we listen to her strange voice, her deep interpretation (live or studio), it gives feeling that Cherubini wrote this splendid score just for Callas.

Nobody will ever perform Meadea this way again. This woman was not human ! Opera singers of today look so ridulucous when they try to act on stage, simply lifting left hand, then right hand !
May be blessed all those who love her, and understand her art and her genious.

This just makes you mad that there none of those performances were filmed entirely.
So wonderful. No wonder there were no other Medeas around - who could pull that out except for Callas.

The hands are amazing... She dances as much as she sings. She is incredibly graceful and almost frighteningly unpredictable at the same time: Medea, the seductress and the killer, and the soul of Cherubini's music.
