You are right, but realistically, the same thing would happen without the plasmids, it would only take longer. People have always had the need to kill or do bad things to his/her neighbor. In Rapture, a highly developed society, power would have become a MAJOR issue after Ryan's death. Most likely, power would be shared among Rapture's intellects (Rapture = 90% intellectuals) and thats when the corruption of power will take place.
And then, the fall of Rapture.

I agree with ForABetterTommorrow..although I will disagree with you in one single point..the reason why rapture was self-destroyed was mostly from the sideffects of plasmids,not because some people just couldn't "handle" their power,it was simply because their powers made them inhuman.
Lol,who would wish to kill or do bad things to his neighbour if he didn't have the "need" to do that (either this need is stress,power,wealth,or something that pathetic)

Not to mention the fact that almost the only reason most get into the medical profession is to pull in medical dollars. Remove the vast amounts of profits made from medical care and all the quality doctors will vanish from this country, and even the poorly trained doctors will be in short supply.

Well, the main philosophy behind Bioshock is Objectivism, but the characters are no Objectivists. Ryan holds objectivist views, but not consistently.
Objectivism does not equal to free markets, for example police, the justice system and the military are handled (in an Objectivist society) by the government, not by the market.
The problems of Rapture were that too few people shared the philosophy and that it had no military to defend itself (and had to rely on ban on travel and trade). |
