Where are you better off in a head-on crash? A modern-day 5* Euro NCAP car, or an old banger that's built like a tank?

Emptying my savings account will be a used Moped or Go Kart. Wish I could afford the Volvo.

Comparing a car from the 90's with a car from today... If i would have to buy a new car I'd still rather buy a Volvo than a Renault. It just shows that cars of today are even saver than cars from the 90's.

What about if 2 x mondus collapses? Both drivers would get their necks off..they could have made Volvo "immortal", but if you car is toucher, the other one get's more damaged than you..

In finland tv there was a test where was compared few cars, among saab 900. in draging test towards sement block, "accidentally" the car that did the draging, twitched and the angle changed to other, compared to others. The final intention for any commercial program is to make people consume and buy new cars and magazines that test new cars.

I would filter this kind of tests wery carefully. Specially when there is new car and old car (known extremely safe). There are various small tricks to make the situation look like other is weaker.

Actually, they don't rip to piece's they tear apart what hit's them, especially smaller cars. I've seen several small cars made in Europe, Japan and the US all take the the harsh pounding in accidents with Big SUV's Many times the Big SUV rarely has a scratch while the smaller car folds up like a tent. And the BIG SUV and Trucks will live on and not go away. You do know you can buy a brand new Cadillac Escalade and GMC SUV in a Hybrid. They get 21 mph in the City double that on the Highway.

it will simpy not, the old design ladder chassis will cause these cars to be ripped to pieces. It doesen't matter though, soon the big gas guzzling suv's will be a thing of the past anyway.....
