Studio dancers that are young always make that face. It's because they aren't mature enough to do emotionally engaging pieces. It's like they go through all the vowels withe the face like cheerleaders. Not my favorite thin to watch either. But... the girl can turn, no question about that.

As for the lack or releve... I know a lot of studio dancers that do that, and I don't know why. It's almost like it helps the center of balance so they can achieve more pirouettes or get out of the pirouettes with a tilt etc. I don't know... I have tried it and I don't like it. High releve is always the best way to go. She is fierce at turning though.

what's with the funny faces? if you look at her face she sticks out her tounge then smiles then acts surprised. it's weird

shes an AMAZING turner. but her releve could be higher. shes barely getting her heel off the ground. still good though! :D

if you ask me this video is stupid! Teaching the technique of pirouettes is good, and amanda is amazing, but you almost just kinda seem like someone whos obsessed with Amanda Ocampo. "How to do Pirouetts Like Amanda Ocampo" just kinda seems a little weird

man those little girls are better than me! but i dont like how people will have like 6 year olds wearing stuff like that. and i HATE those cheesey faces! but their turns were AMAZING!

At a young age in the competition circuit, you have to do that kind of stuff. They judge more on cute and less on technicality with younger dancers. The older you get, the more you have to rely on technique. I personally think she's a great competition dancer.

I feel that you can't force the kind of talent that this baby has! Her drive is from within herself. Yes, her mom probably gives her great encouragment but I do not think for a second that she is a bad mom. This child radiates happieness in what she is doing. Cant you all tells the dancers who are "just not into it"????? |
