all the prisoner BS and migrations was stalins BS not necessarily the socialist system itself. Russia is different this time - religion is accepted and encouraged, media is not 'free' per se but there is much more freedom, the economy might slow some but its still growing by 5-6% or so- Russia does have the potential to be far better than the soviet union ever was.

the US ground invasion in west europe wasnt really a decisive factor in beating nazi germany BUT the massive non-stop air bombardment the US was doing on Germany for years was a huge factor in completely defeating nazi germany. I think without that bombing the best the USSR would have gotten vs nazi germany would probably have been a stalemate.

remember this that the USSR destroyed 85% of that fascist nazi army and the US only 4% so looks whos talking.the Red army of the USSR was probably the strongest military in the world at that time and the all the cold war.

Berlin was taken by Russians because Eisenhower told Patton to stop let the Russians have it. Why did Stalin beg Churchill FDR to invade? Why did the U.S. send equipment to Russia so Stalin could paint it over tell his people it was made in the USSR? And no you might not pay 60k for college but then again, the U.S. military does not sell it's draftees as prostitutes. Both countries have their problems. Both have proud people. Why argue about who can blow the other off the planet?

America did help, but not much. Major victories were won by USSR not US. Berlin was taken by Russians not Americans. Many of you don't even believe that holacaust existed. US lost 380,000 but USSR 20,000,000. If you can't respect those who died for freedom then don't say anything. US didn't really help USSR, US helped France and Britain. At least in USSR people did not pay 60,000 college tuition!
