The Peter Kiewit Institute (PKI) at the University of Nebraska has deployed 2,300 Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors -- or 9,200 cores -- operating at over 60 Teraflops at its Holland Computing Center. Highlights include: -The ease of upgrading from Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors to Quad-Core; -Additionally, this upgrade equated to over triple the original performance with no change in PKI's thermal footprint whatsoever; -Furthermore, not only does this computing center provide the exact technology environment researchers are looking for, but it also currently serves as the largest Microsoft Computer Cluster in the world.

will this runs Sims2 at maximum setting?

dude, at 60 teraflops, you would get like 45 frps at max settings.

To put this into a greater perspective, a Core 2 Duo processor puts out a *theoretical maximum* 4 flops per clock (per core) and runs somewhere between 1.8GHz and 2.66GHz. That means that an average (2GHz) processor operating at theoretical peak efficiency, your average Core 2 Duo processor would put out about 16 gigaflops. Real performance probably peaks at about 70-80% of that, which means about 12-13 gigaflops.

haha once again, very good point

hmm. good point

with 60 Teraflops? maybe 20-25 at most, lol.

haha that would be amazing. and really cool to watch. how many fps do you think you'd get?

wonder if it will run crysis :) joke
