well if you stop buying theyr products they will decrese production therefore people will be fired and they will be in an even worst situation, I dont agree with what Nike does but imagine what would happen to that people id the factories where closed.

Pay more for Nike products so Nike can afford to pay their workers what they deserve you penny pinching money grubbers.

what if. we could do that all day. also, what if i was famous and the number 1 nba player ever?
jeffhuypham (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
come one dude what if you had no job except work at nike and then they paid 15 cents an hour and the bosses harasses youand u work overtime, they should at least pay them a decent pay, they already make billions...
example: the owner of COSTCO chooses to lower his own income because he says "i dont need that much money, what am i going to do with it?" so he would rather pay his employees well like at 12 an hour and have a better happy community
its about greed vs human rights

Nike is just doing there business. If they make more money, then why do people criticize them? It's part of business. And them doing this is better than the people in Africa waiting for the next unicef cart. Watch how many people are going to reply on how "Oh you are so ignorant." Well, I support sweatshops for that reason of "putting people to work" instead of just having them laying around, prevent the world from getting further. That's the main reason companies make thing out of the country
ILLINOISLOYALTY1 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
i no exactly. its better than just having them wait around for the next unicef carts. and plus the people agree to work there
rosemaryhua (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
they sell a lot of shoes for more than 100 dollars each. can they not afford to pay their workers more than minimal wage? you can't look at it as if "its better than nothing", especially when nike can afford to pay more than minimal wage for their workers. nike has taken steps to improve their workers' conditions, but even now, to say that the workers are treated unfairly is an amazing understatement.

While i agree that nike should increase these peoples wages, they are giving alot of people work who could otherwise be dead or have no source of income. They have also taken steps to improve the life of their employees by giving them lunch and increasing tha wage, they also dont employ children any more.
