Depleted uranium is considered a weapon of mass destruction and is banned for use in warfare by international law, yet the US and Israel use it routinely. The US military has used thousands of tons of depleted uranium in Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq sickening civilians and its own soldiers by the tens of thousands. Depleted uranium contaminates food, water, air and land forever. It's the ultimate "dirty bomb." For more information about this video go to: www.beyondtreason.com

Sorry, like most sheeple, you have been misinformed. There is absolutely no method to render any isotope of uranium radioactively inert. The term "depleted" refers to the harvesting of fissile forms of Uranium (such as U-235) from the U-238 bulk. Simply put depleted uranium = uranium 238. U-238 is -very hot- (highly radioactive) and emits mostly alpha particles, plenty of betas and some gammas. Breathe or ingest some of those particles and you'll have a bad date with cancer down the road.

"Could it be that there is really no difference, at the end of the day, between one breed of men of violence and another? A killer is a killer, whether he wears a Confederate flag on his shoulder, a US flag in his lapel, or a green turban and a ski mask. They are all the same men, and there are far too many of them." While the depleted uranium that is used in armor piercing rounds is SUPPOSE to be the inert extract that is produced from removing the active radioactive material. However, there is no program to test that suppliers are providing this form. There are two options, test the grade of every bullet, which is impractical to impossible, or to switch to other forms of armor piercing bullets that are available, but more expensive. Uranium is also a toxic heavy metal, equivalent of cadmium.

This knowledge makes me sick to call myself an Ameican. I will not allow this shit to be done in my name so I will not stay in the fascist state of amerika. What will you do? Sit on your ass, probably. It's what we amerikans do best.

And my tax dollars have gone into this horrible travesty. My tax dollars have gone into irradiating foreign lands for an eternity. I'm amazed I'm able to sleep at night knowing the military forces that are supposed to keep me safe are compromising the lives of innocent people around the world.

Treblaine You are, simply put, wrong. When you're done testing the Iraqi population for radioactivity, let me know....
QuietGalTalking (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Treblaine PS....excuse me for accusing you of lying. I can often be a grumpy antiwar activist.
QuietGalTalking (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Treblaine I've sent you an article on depleted uranium. In part, it says: All uranium, whether natural, depleted or enriched, is a toxic radiological element. Each differs from the other in atomic structure by less than one percent. DU emits three types of ionizing radiation: alpha and beta particles and photons.
QuietGalTalking (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Treblaine ....compared with plutonium, I'm sure DU is safe as milk. It's still highly radioactive.
