The $5,000 credit won't work. The providers will simply tack that onto the bill. It also takes public money and siphons it into private profit, and it completely disregards the bad luck of some who will need expensive treatments.
A misguided, quickly flung together plan by the Republicans to convince us they're somehow concerned.
This idea alone should disqualify McCain from the post.

I am 51 years old as of this month. I went to the doctor for the first time in about ten years today for blood pressure check. I met the doc, pissed in a cup, had an EKG, x-ray, took blood, and was given a script. total price...test...$410.00....medicine..30days..$72.00 . Now I have a $72.00 month increase in my cost. I have no insurance. Lucky for me my company paid it on credit card. Now what will each candidate do to help me? like so many others in greater need.

New York Times: World's Best Medical Care?
August 12, 2007
"Seven years ago, the World Health Organization made the first major effort to rank the health systems of 191 nations. France and Italy took the top two spots; the United States was a dismal 37th.
More recently, the highly regarded Commonwealth Fund... . Its latest report, issued in May, ranked the United States last or next-to-last compared with five other nations — Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand and the United Kingdom..."

Is this a Saturday Night Live Spoof? He said absolutely nothing in this ad. What a joke...meanwhile I have over $20,000 in medical expenses from a year and a half of rehab...I was hit by a DRUNK DRIVER! Wonder if they bought the beer from McCain's wife's company? The police did nothing...the medical insurance company I have is now trying to drop my coverage because of one thing...I actually need to use it. When you have a healthcare system that is run for profit you will have problems.
