When I first saw this, I was really disgusted at all the liberties they took from the original, but now that I've watched it some more, I've grown to like it. It looks much more, you know, anime-esque than the original, and I'm sure it was dubbed better (which might not necessarily be a good thing :3). Any DVDs of this?

"Sure the original's a classic, but today it's just hard to watch unless you grew up watching it." Absolute bullshit! It's nowhere near hard to watch at all nowadays. You don't have to have grown up watching the original Speed Racer in order to enjoy it. It's totally possible for anybody of any age to enjoy the original Speed Racer. I'm in my late 20s and I still love it.

The dialog of this series was a tribute to the original. They talked somewhat fast, it was cheesy, and even had the classic "WOAH" sentience filler occasionally.

It was canceled after 30 episodes were made because of a legal dispute. Only 14 were translated and shown in the US. Shame, it was everything the original Speed Racer was with great animation. Guess somethings are to good to be shown on TV.

id rather watch the 60's any day. and when they talk fast, well, that's just speed racer. just like a dog barks, or a cat meows. it's what made it famous, and unique from all the other cartoons.

Still, I'd rather watch the 60's Speed Racer over overrated anime titles like Ikki Tousen and Tenjho Tenge

the 60's one sucked though...kinda hard to like it when everyonetalkssofasttheycan'tbreath and the animation in the 60's one was so...stiff... Sure the original's a classic, but today it's just hard to watch unless you grew up watching it.

The Mach 5 was given wings during the origonal 60's show. It was during the alpine acrobatic race.
