Look up some stuff about getting a setup done... if your strings sound like they're in tune as far as in relation to each other when played open, but out of tune when you finger a chord (or put a capo on?), you might need some one to fiddle with your intonation... Your guitar should play the exact same note on the 12th fret as open... I'm not completely sure about intonation and capos, but you may want to look into it :P
