To me Bowie is showing that the only thing in his world at that time that he loved was he music, the wailing of the gutar.Therefore the "white world" around him show the emptiness of his heart......I must lay the straw down for my nose burns alot while watching Bowie video's....

Isolation, it's blank, empty, bewildered, but always hopeful, I could see myself in this video. And getting over an addiction makes it much worse. thanks for showing the truth of this David.

Pure cinema. It's truly amazing, unbelievable, how Bowie could transform himself from "Life on Mars" to a wretched-looking superstar. Actor, actor!

I agree with the comment below. I am a huge Bowie fan, and this video and this song is my least favorite. He looks so miserable.
