In Windows terms. Those point increases would be like Windows XP to Vista. Example: 10.5.2 = Leopard with "SP2", the X.X.2 is the "service pack". The X.5.X is the new release version. It's version 5 of the OS 10 platform, much like Vista is version whatever of the NT platform.

Apple actually offer an upgrade for like £5 if you bought one of their systems released after a certain date that didn't ship with Leopard installed, which is quite a nice deal. I don't think they do OEM versions due to the fact they're the only OEM who offer it.

The money he donted has absolutely FUCK ALL to do with the development of Microsoft products, it's from the sales of the products, not the development. Also, he gives it to charity in order to write it off in his tax return. Lots of well off people do it, it actually saves you money believe it or not. Also, Windows is faulty because its poorly coded. They need to rewrite it from the ground up without all these holes everywhere that can be exploited.
