Fresh install of Hardy Heron, + x1300 works out of the box, just enable the restricted driver and turn on compiz in the appearance icon, but the compiz tray icon is well worth the download which can be found in the synaptics..

got same probs with X1400 (not big dif with X1300)
tried a lot with fglrx (no cure for sure)

Easy to find the GUIDE on the ubuntu site (check the forums)
Anyone who wants this its easier to install than windows and the feisty install cd sets up dual boot for you! So no more excuses go n get it and see why Windows got left in the dust.

Me too - I've spent hours trying to get it to work on a X1300. I got it working on a GeForce4 Ti4200 in about two minutes.
