This is not a "method", but a correct way of tying the Windsor knot. It is symmetrical.
If you use less moves, then you use less fabric. Less fabric means smaller knot. Less moves also means that you are tying anther knot than the Windsor.
I agree though that there are many more handsome, symmetrical knots other than the Windsor out there. They have other names though.

I think this method of Windsor knot tying is needlessly complicated, and will end up using more material than necessary. Some ties are thicker, and/or shorter, and will require a simpler windsor knot that uses less moves, but still provides a handsome, symmetrical knot (instead of a crappy asymmetrical, lazy looking four-in-hand).

Oh thank god, a video that helps. I tried learning with a page off of google, but darnit, reading it was distracting me from tying my knot.

thank you so much xD i'm in our rifle drill team for my hs and we have to have this kind of knot done on our tie before you go to competition. :D AND we have uniform check every week on wednesday and since i'm in a drill team i have to have this knot also. thank you :D
