most people already have lost identities. i wouldnt even bet 5% of the national population is 'pure'.

well, regardless of what anyone thinks: i fell in love with my last boyfriend because of his personality, not because he was japanese. we shared the same opinions, interests. he made me laugh. i loved him, and when you feel so strongly for someone, their background doesn't matter.

The fact that you are black only further shows why you would not see an importance in your culture, unfortunately American Blacks were ripped away from their culture and they really don't have a link to an actual culture back home. Many American Blacks only know what continent they came from, not what country and that has robbed them of the luxury of identifying with a true cultural heritage that hasn't been bastardized.

That's fine if that's how you feel, but quit trying to convert everyone that expresses a different opinion on the matter. Aren't different opinions what make us diverse also? I don't think you can preserve your culture as much when you mix, you lose your culuture and you lose your bloodline and people lose their identity. You can't just choose the one culture you like the most out of the 10 different bloodlines that are in you. A strong bloodline in a culture is important to keep traits.

I did answer your first question when I told you that I never dated outside my race, so how could I fall in love with someone outside my race? And if I fell in love with someone outside my race I guess that's something that I would have to think about, but I think I'd have to seriously think about my values and what I stand for. You have to stand for something or you'll fall for anything, right.

and finally (lol): i'm not saying anyone should HAVE to, but if you stepped out of your comfort zone and opened your mind you would see that it isn't so hard to be with someone different, but still be true to yourself and allow your culture to live on by teaching it to your children. that's just how i feel.

LOL PART TWO SORRY THIS IS SO LONG: i'm black, so would it be wrong of me to marry a chinese man? or a hispanic man? why can't two cultures integrate? i did in fact date a japanese man and in those 4 years i learned a lot about his culture and it's a part of my life now, and vice versa for him.

marrying outside of your race doesn't mean you have to give up your culture. if immigrants had never come to america, and we all wouldn't have come together, america wouldn't be as diverse as it is now. and yes, it is a very sad part of american history regarding the treatment of native americans. but things have changed. no one is forcing anyone to assimilate. it isn't so hard to spread your culture and take active interest in it.

you didn't answer my first question.
