heat ammunition was developed by the germans in ww 2 it wasn't solid shot like for example you would find in a lot of enemy tanks. it used a lot in the tiger 2 {bad tank idea no mobility but still faster then the sherman in theory } so in essence both modern and vintage tanks have the capability too penetrate each others armor

yes, but the tiger tanks (and all other world war 2 tanks) "only" had thick steel armour, which can be easily penetrated by modern shells (eg heat ammunition), moreover the tiger tank only had a 88.8mm gun, whereas modern tanks usually have 120mm guns...fitted to a fighting machine equipped with modern electronics and hardware... a ww2 tank couldnt even fire its gun while driving (no accuracy given). it's like putting up a spitfire against the eurofighter.
