I'm Czech myself, actually (so I know a few local words, not many though :-), and I use the public transport on a daily basis. It was meant as a little "internal joke". I'm always hearing from foreigners in the Czech Republic that local people are wearing gloomy faces because they are generally self-offish. Nice that you don't share their opinion!:-) The thing is - making eye contact and smiling at other people is sometimes deemed offensive cause it's about respecting other people's privacy.

Well You know how many forigners is in Prague? Some of them are chearful more them enough, expecially if they support themselfs with some cheap alcohol. Well everyone there is shaping the piture of the city also you, so next time when you are there you don't have to be really chearful, its enough to be just nice and open for new things and culture and just enjoy the city and everything around. You will see that the people there are not biting. Expecially if you try to learn some local words ;)
