Currently, at least, genetic engineering and humans are being kept at a safe distance. Things I'm scared of right now: America's top research project is mind control and lie detecting(source: sXephil), connecting the human mind with a computer, like ideas such as the world wide mind, or reading thoughts(source: PBH). I think we've gone farther than nature. Look at natural disasters, almost seemingly intended to distroy civilzations if they got too comfy. We treat them like big annoyances.

I think we can trust nature to take care of business if we go to far. Until then I think there is a lot of good that can come out of this. Especially in japan. They are implying it on medical care, and very successfully too. Take a look at what the genetic engineers are doing. THAT is truly scary. Imagine to mix the two...
