If the girl is black - we never hear about it.

This is so hard for law enforcement, too; so many good men and women worked so hard to find her, they knew the odds were against finding her alive but still they worked, all day, all night, doing whatever they could. I feel just as sorry for the law enforcement professionals involved in this case, as I do her parents and other loved ones.
Many good men and women in law enforcement finally went home to their OWN families, knowing that in spite of their VERY best efforts, it ended like this.
