Mama cats picks up their young by the loose skin an the kitten' back which doesn't hurt them at all. :D

omg thats so cute. btw watch the movie "beverly hills chihuahua" and you will see that dogs do that too, carry their young by the flap on their neck! :)

No, you're wrong, i've noticed that if the kitten was hurt, then wouldn't it struggle to get free, that is how they are carried

ok i no that cats bit the back of the kittens neck to move them around, but it always looks like the mama cat is tryin to break the kittens neck

Wow. It amazes me how ignorant some people are. Kittens naturally, as chipp0 said, have a fold of loose skin specifically made for mother cats to use to pick up their kittens. All cats do this, and if does not hurt the kitten at all. It's an instinctual thing, as is the kitten's response--becoming very still. While you shouldn't pick up an adult cat this way, the adult will still become very still if you grap the nape of it's neck, because that is the normal response.
