Le Terrible SSBN - SNLE-NG - 2008 Launch TV report

SSBN - SNLE-NG (Sous-Marin Nucléaire Lanceur d'Engins Nouvelle Génération). Fourth of the "Le Triomphant-class" submarines. The S-619 "Le Terrible" carries 16 new M-51 balistic missiles. Each M-51 carries 6 MIRV or 8 MIRV (+ countermesures) with the new TNO Warhead (yield : 150 Kilotons per MIRV). In 6 MIRV configuration (or 10 MIRV with 100KT TNO), the Terrible is able to deliver 960 x Times Hiroshima. Hiroshima bomb was 15 Kilotons, the "Terrible" has 14400 Kilotons in its launchers. It is fitted with state of the art noise reduction technology. Stealth capability, SOKS tracking system, Blue Laser coms, Cruise Missiles, Anti-Ship missiles and Torpedoes. This sub is powered by a K-15 nuclear reactor (150MW) and propelled by a Pumpjet device. Cost : 4 billions and 500 millions Euros* (equal to 7 Billions USD).
