Stokowski did his own interpretation because Ravel's version was too French in style - according to him. I like this too, very beautiful.

the great gate of kiev is my favorite part of pictures at an exhibion.
silly how i played it in 6th grade.. 6 yrs later this piece sill gives me chills.

Well dont take those gates sireous..it`s just a carickaturs(sorry for my English rus here),but the architectment of rus buldings at the Kiev Kingdom were that style,what about the music it`s gr8(a 3rd Compositor that tries to show a new form of music,non following the standarts of French opera etc) :)

This piece is amazing! I still can't believe that critics of Mussorgsky think his works are choppy and sporadic. Unbelievable! |
