Sir you are WRONG.
Case in point: Warrel Dane covering Sisters of Mercy's "Lucretia My Reflection." Let's just say that I can't listen to the original anymore, and I -like- SoM.
Or, a more obscure example: Agalloch covering Sol Invictus' "Kneel to the Cross." The original song is horrible, and Agalloch makes it listenable.
Sure there's bad covers (ie. almost every cover Sentenced's ever done) and covers of equal quality but nothing precludes a cover being better than the original.

Once in a blue moon does the remake sound better than the original...for example, Gary Jules' remake of Tears For Fears "Mad World". Jules nailed it.

this sucks
COMMACK4KEV (August 14, 2008 at 7:46 am)
I agree with Dincognito. All these remakes of songs from the past have the time, money and effort breaking the ground for someone to come along and say hey look at my work, meanwhile the work has already been halfway done for them. and that's an understatement!! GET REAL! NOBODY REMAKES A SONG FROM THE ORIGINAL ARTIST "BETTER"!!
DIncognito (August 14, 2008 at 3:47 am)
You have to be an idiot to say someone did a cover better then the original. Clearly, you meant to say they did it in their own unique way and you appreciate it more so than the way it was originally composed.
Mephistonia (August 13, 2008 at 1:15 am)
the metal band Cathedral did a cover of this and did it better.
