Thank you so much. This, along with, "She Knows" off the High on the Hog album encapsulate his genuis in my opinion. Haunting, eerie, poignant, other worldly, devoid of all pretense, raw and totally beautiful in its' sparseness. That's what he brought to The Band's music.

A stunningly beautiful song by one of the greatest groups ever. Along with the Beatles, the Band is unsurpassed-- an almost impossible synergy of songwriting and musicality. Sonic snapshots from a far more tender and truthful time. Thanks for posting and R.I.P. Richard...

So satisfying and so soothing. All the great sounds of The Band are once again ringing in my mind and should never end.

Great video- thanks for posting. Manuel certainly had a voice for the ages. An incredible talent. Maybe the Good Lord has to take something away when he gives you so much. EIther way, we were all blessed that we had him (and Danko, and The Band for that matter) as long as we did.

This song takes me to a place where there are no words...the saddest song ever written and with such poignant beauty. When Levon Helm comes in mid way through, I am speechless.

This song still brings me to tears. It is so pure and beautiful. R. Manuel's pain is so real here. God bless him. |
