Brendel offers a wonderful, emotional and exceptional tone and very good technical treatments. Schubert is unique among composers in that he can evoke the most complex emotions out of the simplest and most irresistible melodies, and there are changes of moods even within the space of a few bars.

Alfred Brendel is always a rewarding experience.

Hello "dfd2020" . You wrote:"... nothing arbitrary or exaggerated...." Uhmm maybe to speak about your listeneng experience i could accept "no exageration" and i mostly agree more than you, because i think he can`t be exagerated owed to his many retricted ideas of dynamics, or lack of imagination. I am really not sure of this until now. But if you speak about his "Corporal language", he is more than exagerate..specially in this sonata. Here he make a kind of "epilectic" manierisms. frateramadeus

It is because we are smarter than everyone else. That is the price you pay. It is for others to enjoy.

his playing is really pure and light, almost platonician... nothing arbitrary or exaggerated. Very good to me.
