Willie Mays was never the legend that Mick and Duke were in NY. His jealousy of the two outfielders is lendendary. Mays took it as a racial thing summizing that the media and fans prefer Mick and Duke. Sad figure indeed.

I had heard that Mays was a bit of a jerk at times. One has to know how he felt about the Barry Bonds "steroid" issue. After all, he was Bonds godfather. He is very bitter in his old age. I never thought of him as a role model, much like his godson.
