To buy the unquestionably brilliant Ducati 1098S you will have to pay a staggering £9,000 more than a used version of its predecessor the 999. Just think for the price of a new 1098S you can have used 999 and have enough change for leathers, a lid and a few track days. So, to find out if the new comer really is worth the extra, we took a 999 and a 1098S down to the Jerez circuit in Spain and entered them into an endurance race. Watch the video to see which option makes more sense

The more I see these MCN reports the more it seems that they just do this as an excuse to be able to ride bikes on the track under the pretense of "reporting". They never really say anything worthwhile or meaningfull... Nice con job though...guess I would do it if I could ;-)

RACING KIT The 1098 R comes with a race kit (intended strictly for track use only) which boosts power output from 180 to approximately 186hp.

ducati is v twin block...not same with flat block in R1 or orders...v twin block is low power than "in line four block"...that^s it ducati must over the "cc" to get same power with 1000cc in line four block... you all understand honey!!!

Test ride a 1098 before you think about maxium power. It delivers its power harder than the jap bikes do in places they dont. I rode one with open pipes and its an awsome machine. Try one round a twisty road and see if you can use all its power. Control and handling make the bike faster than its power sugests. My slow 900ss can show up bigger machines in the twisty roads without hardly any outright power. Its just so easy to get the power down and its roadholding and acuracy inspires confidence.
