Jason did this way back when she was in her teens he knew that he would do things that she couldn't take like killing people, so he tried to run that girl off.
Now many years later that grown man is regretting what he cause her to do marry someone she really wasn't in love with who was her second choice all hit mayhem is because of Jason. He couldn't live anything happend to his Beloved Elizabeth.

I think he talks her into this whole "it's too dangerous" thing. And when she met him, she was just a kid. She listens to him, like he's the adult.
I would lose patience and throw around ultimatums and get thrown out.
