zarah diva sings "waldemar". this clip is from 1962, the song was written by michael jary and bruno balz. zarah had enormously much humor ,self-irony , she said " i have two characters in my soul, one woman is hysteric lazy and one woman who is very serious, there is nothing between.

And no, you can't misread this song as a pro nazi one - only if you are not able to speak / read german properly and hear things like "held, blond etc."

burgcochem your comment is so unnecessary... In this context here the song was meant to be comic, funny. if you would speak german you would understand that she sings he's called waldemar, and has black hair he's neither proud nor keen but I love him he's called waldemar, and he is no star, he's from berlin, but I love him this is put into context with the first few lines where she sings about the third reich ideal of a blond, heroic, strong fairytale kind of guy THINK!

bulshit, this was very popular song in germany in the 1940's.

(2). btw, if I'm not mistaken; a lot of the composers and text writers to Leander's songs were Jewish or non-German.. she also sang a lot of covers from songs that was originally in French, Danish, English, etc.

I see what you're getting at.. you can def. read this song in different ways (many wants to make it a Nazi/SS-song); but as I see it: the song actually cleverly pokes fun at those ridiculous ideals (about being blonde and stuff that nazis were fond of) showing that it's impossible to think like that.. with the message of the song meaning: "the reality is different and your 'ideals' are stupid, so wake up!!" sort of.. anyway, that's how I read it..

Waldemar was not blond, the perfect nazi man. He was from the east, a slavonic profile. This song would not be appreciated by the SS.
