Almost every pianist who has played this piece "tampers" with it to some extent; Richter was one of the few who played it "straight".

Brilliant - but full of thoroughly unmusical mannerisms from beginning to end. A most affected performance.

in response to some people's objections to pletnev's "tampering" with the score, i believe there is a reworked version by rimsky-korsakov of mussorgsky's original score. i'm not really familiar with that version, but it might be that pletnev is playing bits and pieces from that version. then again, pletnev is known for his originality. so some of the alterations might be his own.

Interpretation, lots of it! Many notes of his are not in the score. I prefer the original

Ravel's orchestrated version for this is absolutely great, but nothing can be compared to the original piano score.

I love Mussorgsky Pitctures at an Exhibition. It´s one of my favorite piano scores. But to be honest I´ve heart better versions.
