I've never heard of him being addicted to heroin..just pot and something like valium i think. But whatever this song is about it can mean different things to different people which makes it even better. His self-reflection into the lyrics are great..this song is what caught my attention to this band.

u kno this song was dedicated to my g/f and son before both were taken away from me (god rest their souls) i never told her i was sry, but when i remember being with her all my troubles and shit inn my life was all gone all i had was them. staind makes me feel good
