This is a myth, tried this method and it doesn't work, they ARE too close to the scalp and it would have burned my daughter's head trying to get that close!

It doesn't work. The lice eggs are always close to the scalp and often in places like the top of the neck, dark places where you'd burn yourself reaching. If you can't kill the eggs, you'll still have lice, and that's not including if that dumb heat treatment works. It's retarded, just buy a shampoo and comb to remove the eggs, worked when I had them as a kid.

umm ..i thought if applied heat to the eggs it made them hatch quicker thats what my mom told me and shes a nurse?

dosnt work, they become imune very easily to the heat.
I straighten my hair everyday and had head lice for 3 months.
