I didn't hear the 2006 piece you refer to, so I cannot comment on it. I do know that I've heard and read enough of his news analysis that I've found both insightful and credible up to the current week to hold him high esteem. Naturally, I haven't always agreed with him and history has proven several of his analyzes fallible. But in terms of knowledge, experience and wisdom, he stands head and shoulders above most of his peers, in my opinion.

he wrote that in 1977. I heard him on npr as recently as 2006 steadfastly defending the warren commissions findings. I too used to hold him in very high esteem, but he's lost all credibility with me now.
