The first part of my last post is the answer to your classic car problem and the gasoline it takes to run it when conservative methods are depleted. There is a genetically modified strain of e-coli that create gasoline as a byproduct when the strain is introduced to sugar. Last months Popular Science explains it.

There is and will be man made "gasoline" for your classics. Google E-coli gasoline. Also side note. Hybrids are horribly inefficient as well. The batteries life isnt all that long and the waste material will be a real problem in the future. A real short term and long term goal is one of aerodynamic efficiency instead of esthetics. Also personally I think trees should be planted beside all major highways to cut wind drag. That is the real gas guzzling problem. Less friction = higher efficiency.

Forget the E85, Hydrogen is the one and only answer for today's fuel and pollution problems.

well for classic cars that run on gasoline, we're going to need a gasoline equivalent to run them, since we're going to be dangerously low on petroleum in 40 years or so
