You can get this TODAY by loading it onto the phone and running it from Windows Mobile, for instance. Simple, plan-independent.

RIM chose java... I have 36 days of uptime on my BlackBerry right now (after a rather bad gravity-induced phone explosion); try doing that with another platform

While it's not so simple the "public" doesn't obviously need to be a computer programmer to run the phone. This is obviously for the SDK--think before posting.
