He is a true player, loyal, commited and a fantastic player. He deserves to be paid the wages he gets instead of some the overrated players today who demand more and more money and then turn their back on the club. He is a credit to the game

I wouldnt say Beckenbauer is better, Maldini was better on the ball and obviously fitter playing in a modern game for one of Europes best clubs and getting in the first team into his very very late 30s..... id say hes a better captain too and an example to ANY football. Having said that tho you have only named one defender who may be better so really there aint much in it. I prefer Maldini for sure tho, theres always too much emphasis on footballers from the 60s and 70s !
